Just as I try to become consistent with my blogging, other things crop up in life, and, as most things do, they come first before other things.
However..............................
Just because I haven't been able to blog, I have been able to keep up with baking, and I am going to show you the bakes that I have been working on.
Not one to be held back, I am going to highlight a few of my bakes for you below:
This is a dog cake that I made for my daughter for her 11th Birthday. It was also picked as a Readers' Top 10 Cake for Cake Decoration Magazine.
It was a challenging bake because of the different techniques that were required to create the cake.
The head and front paws were created using a mixture of rice krispies and melted marshmallows. As these were difficult cakes to create, this was the more obvious choice as it was easier to carve and mould than using cake, as that is more fragile and prone to breaking up, whereas with the rice krispies/marshmallow method you can remould to a certain extent (before it solidifies!) so that you can get the exact shape you require.
The rest of the cake was made using a hemisphere tin for the body, and carved sponge for the back legs. This was a simple vanilla sponge.
The eyes, nose, ears and the tail were created using modelling paste.
The cupcakes were an addition that I felt worked well - they are my Pink Lemonade Cupcakes that I will break down on a later blog.
My new skill developed on this bake was the addition of a wooden flooring covering for the cakeboard, which I think is very expressive and realistic, and adds to the professional finish of the cake.
Not only does it look good, but it tastes great too!!
I enjoy baking for my family, especially for my girls, and it has become a requirement for their birthdays now to have a Baking Mamma Cake that they can share with their friends.
Look out for more of my bakes and breakdowns of my bakes so that you can create my cakes for celebrations, or even just for that special treat :) Xx

Good things come to those who wait........
Again, it's been a while since I have posted, but life is busy and other priorities have to take precedence over everything else.
That said, I have been busy baking many different creations, but have not had time to put them onto a blog.
Until now........
I have made a resolution that I am going to get my creations on my blog, with step by step pictures wherever possible to show from beginning to end the process of creating both aesthetically pleasing and delicious baked treats for you or your family and friends to share.
My passion for baking stems from my own experiences as a child, and I firmly believe that baking is a pleasure to share with your children as they grow up, and even if you get your children to help weigh out ingredients or combine them together, you are stimulating their interests and also their desire to want to create their own bakes; the pride from being involved in something that brings delight to the family is something that cannot be replicated. Some of the bakes I will post have been created with the aid of my two children.
Keep on eye out over the coming weeks for some great bakes and recipes that you can use to create delicious treats.
Happy baking, and don't forget to share your creations and experiences through my message page too!
